Ze primeurde hem gisteren tijdens het Gouden Televizier-Ring Gala in Koninklijk Theater Carré Amsterdam: Loreen’s gloednieuwe singel ‘Is It Love’. Daarbij verlegt Loreen haar koers. Het nummer verkent de klanken van haar Marokkaanse erfgoed en flirt met ‘spirituele pop’, zoals fans haar muziek liefdevol omschrijven – iets waar Loreen zelf ook een sterke band mee heeft. Het thema van de song wordt eigenlijk al beschreven in de titel: ‘Is It Love’ gaat over het leven, over hoe er geen licht is zonder duisternis. Geen helderheid zonder ruis en geen liefde zonder pijn.
Loreen over ‘Is It Love’: “’Is It Love’ was born from a place of seeking clarity, it’s a song describing and contemplating a love that’s so deep but at the same time filled with confusion. It’s about realising that to create a deeper understanding of yourself you need to accept the duality of life, that distortion and clarity goes hand in hand and are equally as important. And to experience the depth of true love, both to the self as well as to others, you have to accept and experience the depth of pain.”
Op zondag 12 november staat Loreen in een uitverkocht Paradiso Amsterdam. De singel ‘Is it love’ is deze week PowerPlaat op JEY.
