Sir Brian May en Roger Taylor hebben voor het eerst de release aangekondigd van een classic Queen-nummer met de zang van Freddie Mercury. ‘Machines’(of back to humans) verschijnt als digitale singel, tezamen met een lyric video. Het nummer maakt onderdeel uit van de Rhapsody-tour van Queen en Adam Lambert, waarvan de laatste twee shows dit weekend in Los Angeles plaatsvinden. Brian en Roger schreven het nummer voor het album ‘The works’ uit 1984.
“While immersive staging pulls the audience into a dystopian world of spinning cogs and hissing pistons, a battalion of CGI robots march across the giant video screens to the sound of ‘Machines’ and look down on the crowd with unforgiving brimstone eyes – only to be vanquished with the assistance of a virtual Freddie vocal, the band then launching into a techo-infused but highly human Radio Ga Ga, which kicks off a two-hours-plus roller coaster of the band’s legacy catalogue,” aldus de mannen van Queen over ‘Machines’.
