‘Young Heart’ is het vierde album van Birdy. Voorafgaand aan albumrelease verschenen al de nummers ‘Surrender’, ‘Loneliness’, ‘Deepest Lonely’ en ‘The other side’. Birdy`s nieuwe single van de plaat is de ballad ‘Evergreen’. Het is inmiddels vijf jaar geleden dat haar laatste album ‘Beautiful Lies’ uitkwam. In die jaren heeft Birdy de tijd genomen om uit te vinden wie ze werkelijk is en slaat ze een nieuwe weg in. Dit diende als inspiratie voor ‘Young Heart’: een realistisch portret van een artiest die ook de keerzijde van de medaille onder ogen heeft gezien.
Birdy over ‘Evergreen’: “This is written about another time, and brings joy to the record. It’s about two people who are just completely wrapped up in each other and blind to the rest of the world. I wrote it in LA, and it was actually the first time I felt I’d met people who really understood what I was trying to make. I think this is my favourite on the record—everyone was playing in the room together, and it was captured exactly as we performed it. I think you can hear that.”
