Niet alleen The Weeknd en Dua Lipa maken gebruik van de sound van de eighties synth-pop, maar ook de heren die aan de bakermat stonden: Soft Cell en Pet Shop Boys! Vandaag is hun nieuwe single ‘Purple zone’ uitgebracht. Het nummer, met de zang van Marc Almond en Neil Tennant, is geschreven door Soft Cell. ‘Purple Zone’ is afkomstig van Soft Cell’s aankomende album *Happiness Not Included. Marc Almond vertelt over de totstandkoming van de plaat: “I wanted to look at us as a society: a place where we have chosen to put profits before people, money before morality and decency, food before the rights of animals, fanaticism before fairness and our own trivial comforts before the unspeakable agonies of others. But in the album there is also a belief that there is a utopia if we can peel back the layers and understand what really matters.” De release van de LP staat gepland op 6 mei.
