De Britse band Royal Blood heeft de nieuwe single ‘Typhoons’ uitgebracht. Daarnaast hebben ze bekendgemaakt dat hun derde studioalbum – met dezelfde titel – op 30 april verschijnt. Afgelopen zomer brachten ze al de single ‘Trouble’s Coming’ uit: een track met vurige rock-riffs en dansbare beats. Deze vernieuwde sound zal ook terug te horen zijn op hun nieuwe album. Inspiratie hiervoor vonden ze in de muziek van Daft Punk, Justice en Philippe Zdar van Cassius. Het maak-proces komt in de buurt van ‘Royal Blood’, het debuutalbum van de band.
Mike “We sort of stumbled on this sound, and it was immediately fun to play. That’s what sparked the creativity on the new album, the chasing of that feeling. It’s weird, though – if you think back to ‘Figure it Out’, it kind of contains the embryo of this album. We realised that we didn’t have to completely destroy what we’d created so far; we just had to shift it, change it. On paper, it’s a small reinvention. But when you hear it, it sounds so fresh.” Deze week is ‘Typhoons’ uitgeroepen tot nieuwe 3FM Megahit!
