‘Dark matter’ is het nieuwe album van Pearl Jam! Van dit twaalfde album kregen we al twee voorproefjes in de vorm van ‘Running’ en de titelsong ‘Dark matter’. Intussen is de derde singel van Eddie Vedder en zijn mannen uitgebracht: ‘Wreckage’. Een verrassend trager nummer met zowaar een meer country georiënteerde sound. Het album werd in drie weken tijd opgenomen in Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studio in Malibu. Over de nieuwe singel ‘Wreckage’ vertelt gitarist Stone Gossard:
“That one probably has the biggest build for me personally, in terms of hearing it at first and thinking, it’s kind of an Ed (Vedder) song. I wasn’t quite aware of its potency until later. Andrew (Watt, producer) encouraged me to play this little harmonic, acoustic part almost like a CURE melody. I’ve been playing along with the song to relearn it and I’m really looking forward to playing it live. It’s a really powerful lyric and I think we did a really great job of taking something and really pushing it to its limit.” De verse Pearl Jam singel is deze week nieuw in de TIP 40.
