De ballad is geschreven door Oscar winnaars Benj Pasek en Justin Paul. De zangeres meldt zelf op haar Facebook over THIS IS ME: “Animals! Hear me sing ‘This Is Me’ from the movie Greatest Showman. This song means a lot to me as I hope to inspire my animals to accept and love yourselves. You are all special, my animals!! ”.
