Na een radiostilte is James Arthur terug met nieuwe muziek: A Year Ago. De Britse singer-songwriter schreef het nummer met Steve Salomon, met wie hij ook zijn monsterhit Say You Won’t Let Go uit 2016 schreef. Die track heeft ruim 2,3 miljard streams op Spotify en anderhalf miljard YouTube-views. A Year Ago gaat over het missen van een ex, vertelt James. “It captures that feeling when you break up with someone and are riddled with regret and pain and fear. What If I never find someone as good as that again? Will I always be alone? You’re a year on, still wishing you could be back in a moment when the world felt right.”
James, die in 2012 de Britse X-Factor won, bracht in 2021 zijn laatste album uit: It’ll All Make Sense In The End. Naast Say You Won’t Let Go scoorde hij wereldwijde hits met onder meer Train Wreck, Can I Be Him en Impossible.
