Tijdens een reis door Japan ontmoette Ed Sheeran mensen van Pokémon, waarbij gegrapt werd of het niet mogelijk zou zijn dat de Brit een nummer voor hen zou schrijven. Nu is het zover! Na o.a. ‘The joker and the queen’ (met Taylor Swift) en ‘Bam, bam’ (met Camila Cabello) verschijnt aankomende vrijdag Sheeran’s nieuwe single ‘Celestial’. Hij had als kind fijne herinneringen aan Pokémon: : “I started off with Pokémon cards when the craze hit primary school when I was about 7, then the tv show was on tv so I used to try and record it over the same VHS every week. After this me and my brother shared a game boy and Pokémon blue. I got a game boy colour with Pokémon yellow for my 8th birthday, obsessed was an understatement.” De video voor ‘Celestial’ gaat tevens a.s. vrijdag in première en Sheeran belooft zijn fans: “The video is insanely amazing, animated by the incredible people at Pokémon.”
