Santana, Steve Winwood – Whiter Shade of Pale

Santana dropt zojuist een verse single. Helemaal nieuw is het nummer niet: ‘A whiter shade of pale’. In 1967 voor het eerst uitgebracht door Procol Harum. Santana brengt een cover uit met hulp van Steve Winwood, ook bepaald geen onbekende. Carlos en Steve waren beide aanwezig tijdens een concert in Londen`s Hyde Park. Carlos kwam toen al op het idee dit nummer op te nemen met Winwood: : “I said, ‘You and I have to do it, but we’re going to do it very sexy, like a Hare Krishna but with congas.’ I played the components in his ear, and he said, ‘I hear it, Carlos. You’re right.’ So that’s what we did — it’s Santana, Cuban, Puerto Rican in an African way. And man, you talk about sexy. Steve’s voice is so sexy and beautiful.”  Het nummer staat op Santana`s aankomende nieuwe album ‘Blessings And Miracles’ (release 15 oktober).
