Op 27 oktober 1973 ging de Alarmschijf van Radio Veronica naar ‘Photograph’ van Ringo Starr. Hij schreef het nummer samen met George Harrison. Na het uiteenvallen van The Beatles had Ringo Starr een vijftal singles die de Nederlandse hitparades wist te bereiken. ‘It don’t come easy’ (1971) en ‘Back off, Boogaloo’ (1972) waren eerdere solo hits van Ringo. ‘Photograph’ stond op zijn 3e LP ‘Ringo’. Over het nummer zegt de voormalige Beatle:
“‘Photograph,’ y’know, was a huge song for me. And (it) was probably the best structured of mine, which was helped by George. The thing about ‘Photograph’ — the emotion I get from it — is that I was in Spain at the time when I wrote it. But the sentiment of that song I love, but now it has a different meaning, of course. Just because of the fact that George has left. Y’know the song’s a song that fits into the universe and that’s good. And I still do it now, a hundred years later.”
‘Photograph’ kreeg het in 2002 een nieuwe betekenis voor Starr na het overlijden van George Harrison. Het lied, geschreven door Starr en Harrison, bevat de volgende zinsnede: “But all I’ve got is a photograph, and I realise you’re not coming back anymore”. Het nummer behaalde de 8e plaats in de Veronica Top Veertig.
