Vandaag gaat de video in première van ‘Cutthroat’, de single van Imagine Dragons, die tegelijkertijd uitkwam met ‘Follow you’. Deze track werd opgepakt tot Alarmschijf bij Qmusic en is intussen een hit in de TOP 40. De band is alweer meer dan tien jaar bij elkaar en ze zijn elkaar nog niet moe, zo blijkt: “We zijn nu meer een decennium samen en nog steeds zijn Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee en Daniel Platzman (de andere leden van Imagine Dragons, red.) mijn beste vrienden. Ik ben nog steeds heel er blij dat ik met hen in een band zit.”
Dan Reynolds vertelt over het nummer: “It ’s an exorcism of self pity. An examination of my life—finding that I am beyond blessed—and trying to rid myself of all the meaningless things that have burdened me. Killing the part of me that spends its days lamenting about things that bear no real meaning or worth. Finding that at the end of the day only one Dan will prevail, and it’s the one that loves myself. Loves my past. My present. Loves my mistakes and problems. My weaknesses. My illness. One that wakes every day grateful for life. That lives fully and is a present for those that I love.”
