What am I without you’ is de nieuwe single van Elbow. Zo’n twee jaar na hun laatste plaat ‘Giant of all sizes’ is de Britse band, bestaande uit zanger Guy Garvey, toetsenist Craig Potter, bassist Pete Turner en gitarist Mark Potter terug. Het nummer staat op hun nieuwe plaat ‘Flying dream 1’. Daar is ook de vorige single, ‘The seldom seen kid’, op te vinden. Frontman Guy Garvey zegt over de nieuwe single in een statement:
“Lyrically it’s about a beautiful acceptance that death is as much a part of life as much as birth, the idea that the world keeps turning without us. It may sound like I’m singing to a child but it’s actually written to my wife whilst she was nursing her mother when she was terminally ill, and my role was to support her and my son as we dealt with that as a family. So, in a way it’s for both her and my son.” Op 17 juni 2022 staat de groep op het podium van Ziggo Dome.
