Ed Sheeran vuurt de ene na de andere hit af op de wereld en ‘A beautiful game’ hoort daar zeker bij. De Britse singer-songwriter schreef voor de laatste editie van Ted Lasso, de met Emmy’s bekroonde sport comedy, dit nummer. Op zijn social media zegt Sheeran in een statement over ‘A beautiful game’: “I recorded bits of it whilst on tour using crowds from the stadiums that I’ve been playing, and I’m super, super, super proud of it,” Sheeran shared in an Instagram video. “I love the show. I’ve loved working on this song. I hope you enjoy it — just a bit of fun. Football!” Max Martin produceerde het nummer.
