Elton John heeft opgetreden tijdens de receptie van het huwelijk van Prins Harry en Meghan Markle. Het Kensington Palace heeft dat als volgt via op Twitter laten weten: “Sir Elton John has performed at the Lunchtime Reception for guests celebrating the Wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle. Prince Harry asked Sir Elton to perform at the Reception which was hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle. Sir Elton performed for the newly married couple in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family.”
Elton John trad eerder ook op tijdens de begrafenis van zijn moeder, Lady Diana. Harry was toen slechts 12 jaar. Het nummer “Candle In The Wind”, dat Elton in de kerk zong, verscheen op single en werd in Nederland zeven maal platina verkocht. De 71-jarige zanger zong drie nummers voor Harry en Meghan. Behalve “Your Song” waren dat “Tiny Dancer” en “Circle Of Life”.
